I don't have administrative rights on my work laptop, but have some programs I would like to run on startup that don't automatically start when the computer reboots. Also, can I prevent or delay the laptop from rebooting for updates automatically? I would be working and then it just tells me it will be rebooting in X minutes without me having any say in the matter and it is terribly inconvenient. If I could stop that from happening it might also solve my problem. Thanks in advance for the help. The update is most likely schedule at night for the always connected systems. I'm guessing the OP brings his computer in and plugs it in at which point WUS gets the update and requires a restart. This can take up to 2 hours from when the machine returns to the domain. Perhaps the OP is being a bit dramatic? If this is due to regular Microsoft patch Tuesday, then it's only once per month. I can't think of any other reason why a Windows domain machine would be forced to restart on a regular basis. I am in South Africa at the moment. My laptop is not issued to me by the company (which is a huge practical problem) I work for, but a correspondent company of theirs in Cape Town.
